Temporary cookies, or "session cookies" or "transient cookies", are cookies that are deleted after a user leaves an online offer and closes his browser. In such a cookie, for example, the content of a shopping cart in an online shop or a login status can be stored. Cookies are referred to as "permanent" or "persistent" and remain stored even after the browser is closed. For example, the login status can be saved if users visit it after several days. The interests of the users who are used for range measurement or marketing purposes can also be stored in such a cookie. Third party cookies" are cookies that are offered by providers other than the person responsible for operating the online service (otherwise, if they are only the latter's cookies, this is referred to as "first party cookies").
If users do not want cookies to be stored on their computer, they are asked to deactivate the corresponding option in the system settings of their browser. Stored cookies can be deleted in the system settings of your browser. The exclusion of cookies can lead to functional restrictions of this online offer.
Use of Google Analytics (with anonymisation function)
The operating company of the Google Analytics component is Google Inc. 1600 Amphitheatre Pkwy, Mountain View, CA 94043-1351, USA.
However, due to the activation of IP anonymisation on these web pages, Google will previously shorten your IP address within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to and truncated by Google on servers in the United States. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services to website operators relating to website activity and internet usage. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not combined with other data from Google.
The purposes of data processing are to evaluate the use of the website and to compile reports on activities on the website. On the basis of the use of the website and the Internet, further associated services are then to be provided. The processing is based on the legitimate interest of the website operator.
Target group formation with Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to display ads placed by Google and its partners within our advertising services only to users who have shown an interest in our online services or who have specific characteristics (e.g. interests in specific topics or products determined on the basis of the websites visited) that we transmit to Google (so-called "remarketing" or "Google Analytics Audiences"). With the help of remarketing audiences, we also want to ensure that our ads match the potential interest of users.
Use of Google Remarketing
This website uses the remarketing function of Google Inc. This function is used to present interest-related advertisements to website visitors within the Google advertising network. A so-called "cookie" is stored in the visitor's browser, which makes it possible to recognise the visitor when he or she visits websites that belong to the Google advertising network. On these pages, advertisements can be presented to the visitor which refer to contents which the visitor has previously called up on websites which use the remarketing function of Google.
Use of Google AdWords
This website uses Google AdWords. Google AdWords is an Internet advertising service that allows advertisers to serve ads both in Google's search engine results and on the Google advertising network. Google AdWords allows an advertiser to pre-define keywords that will be used to display an ad in Google's search engine results only when the user uses the search engine to retrieve a keyword relevant search result. In the Google advertising network, the ads are distributed to topic-relevant websites using an automatic algorithm and taking into account the previously defined keywords.
The operating company of the Google AdWords services is Google Inc, 1600 Amphitheatre Pkwy, Mountain View, CA 94043-1351, USA.
The purpose of Google AdWords is to promote our website by displaying interest-relevant advertisements on third-party websites and in the search engine results of the Google search engine and by displaying third-party advertisements on our website.
If a data subject reaches our website via a Google advertisement, a so-called conversion cookie is stored by Google on the data subject's information technology system. What cookies are has already been explained above. A conversion cookie loses its validity after thirty days and does not serve to identify the person concerned. If the cookie has not yet expired, the conversion cookie is used to track whether certain subpages, such as the shopping cart of an online shop system, have been accessed on our website. The conversion cookie enables both we and Google to track whether a person who came to our website via an AdWords ad generated sales, i.e. completed or cancelled a purchase.
The data and information collected through the use of the conversion cookie is used by Google to compile visit statistics for our website. These visit statistics are in turn used by us to determine the total number of users who were referred to us via AdWords ads, i.e. to determine the success or failure of the respective AdWords ad and to optimise our AdWords ads for the future. Neither our company nor other Google AdWords advertisers receive information from Google that could be used to identify the person concerned.
The conversion cookie is used to store personal information, such as the websites visited by the person concerned. Accordingly, each time you visit our websites, personal data, including the IP address of the Internet connection used by the person concerned, is transmitted to Google in the United States of America. This personal data is stored by Google in the United States of America. Google may share this personally identifiable information collected through the technical process with third parties.
The person concerned can prevent the setting of cookies by our website, as described above, at any time by means of an appropriate setting of the Internet browser used and thus permanently object to the setting of cookies. Such a setting of the Internet browser used would also prevent Google from setting a conversion cookie on the information technology system of the person concerned. In addition, a cookie already set by Google AdWords can be deleted at any time via the Internet browser or other software programs.
Furthermore, the person concerned may object to the interest-related advertising by Google. To do this, the data subject must access the link from any of the Internet browsers he or she uses and make the desired settings there.
Use of Google ReCaptcha
We integrate the function for the recognition of bots, e.g. for entries in online forms ("ReCaptcha") of the provider:
On some of our websites we embed Youtube videos. Operator of the corresponding plugins is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit a page with the YouTube plugin, a connection to Youtube servers is established. This will tell Youtube which pages you are visiting. If you are logged in to your Youtube account, Youtube can personally assign your surfing behavior to you. You can prevent this by logging out of your Youtube account beforehand.
If you have deactivated the saving of cookies for the Google Ad program, you will not have to reckon with such cookies when watching Youtube videos. However, Youtube also stores non-personal usage information in other cookies. If you wish to prevent this, you must block the storage of cookies in your browser.
Online presences in social media
We maintain online presences within social networks and platforms in order to be able to communicate with customers, interested parties and users active there and to inform them about our services. When calling up the respective networks and platforms, the terms and conditions and data processing guidelines of their respective operators apply.
Deletion or blocking of personal data
We adhere to the principles of data avoidance and data economy. We therefore only store your personal data for as long as is necessary to achieve the purposes stated here or as provided for by the various storage periods provided for by law. After the respective purpose has ceased or these periods have expired, the corresponding data will be routinely blocked or deleted in accordance with the statutory provisions.
Rights of the data subject
You have the right to request information from us about the personal data we have stored about you at any time. Insofar as the legal requirements are met, you also have the right to object to correction, deletion or restriction of processing, data transmission and the right to have your data processed by us. If you have given your consent to the use of personal data, you can revoke it at any time.
If you make use of these rights or if you wish to revoke a declaration of consent to the processing and use of your personal data in whole or in part, please contact us at the e-mail address info[at]berlinstartupschool.com or Constantin Schmutzler, DGH Deutsche GründerHilfe gGmbH, Alt-Moabit 19, 10559 Berlin.

The accuracy of the personal data will be contested by the data subject for a period of time which will allow the data processor to verify the accuracy of the personal data.
The processing is unlawful and the data subject refuses to delete the personal data and instead requests that the use of the personal data be restricted.
The controller no longer needs the personal data for the purposes of processing, but the data subject needs them for the assertion, exercise or defence of legal rights.
The data subject has lodged an objection to the processing pursuant to Art. 21 para. 1 DS-GVO and it is not yet clear whether the legitimate reasons of the data controller outweigh those of the data subject.
Right to data transferability
You have the right to receive the personal data concerning you that you have provided to the Berlin Startup School in a structured, common and machine-readable format. Furthermore, you can claim that the Berlin Startup School transmits this data to a responsible person as far as this is technically feasible and as far as the rights and freedoms of other persons are not affected.
Right of objection
You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time for reasons related to your particular situation. We will no longer process your personal data in the event of objection, unless we can prove compelling grounds for processing worthy of protection which outweigh your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves to assert, exercise or defend legal claims.
Legal basis of the processing
Art. 6 I lit. a DSGVO serves our company as a legal basis for processing operations in which we obtain consent for a specific processing purpose. If the processing of personal data is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party, as is the case, for example, with processing operations that are necessary for the delivery of goods or the provision of other services or consideration, the processing is based on Art. 6 I lit. b DS-GVO. The same shall apply to such processing operations which are necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures, for example in cases of inquiries regarding our products or services. If our company is subject to a legal obligation which makes the processing of personal data necessary, for example to fulfil tax obligations, the processing is based on Art. 6 I lit. c DS-GVO. In rare cases, the processing of personal data may become necessary in order to protect the vital interests of the data subject or another natural person.
Modification of the data protection declaration
We reserve the right to amend this data protection declaration from time to time so that it always complies with current legal requirements or in order to implement changes to our services in the data protection declaration, e.g. when introducing new services. Your renewed visit will then be subject to the new data protection declaration.
